Cast Iron Flank Steak

This classic cast iron steak can be prepped in advance for an easy meal full of flavor. Ask your local Fareway meat market for their recommended cut!


  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 flank steak (1 1/2 pounds)

Whisk oil, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, pepper, and brown sugar until the sugar dissolves. Place meat in a shallow dish and pour marinade over. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, up to overnight.

Preheat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.

Place steak in a skillet for 4 minutes, flip, and cook for an additional 3–4 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 145°F.

Allow steak to rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
