Cook for 1 hour. Turn oven off for 3 hours (do not open oven door). Turn oven on again to 375°F. For a well-done roast, cook an additional 40 minutes; for medium, cook 30 minutes; for medium-rare, cook 20 minutes. If your oven is being used to bake additional items, simply bake the prime rib roast at 250-300°F for 4-5 hours, uncovered.
